Background
China Post scheduled the issuance of a set of special stamps themed National Art Museum of China on May 23, 2023, which consists of one single stamp. The design of the stamp depicts the National Art Museum of China, with a face value of 1.20 yuan for the whole set. The planned circulation of this stamp set is 6.6 million.

The National Art Museum of China is located at No. 1 Wusi Street in Beijing. Its construction kicked off in 1958, and it officially opened to the public in 1963 with an inscribed name by Chairman Mao Zedong, standing as a landmark building of national culture. Integrating functions including exhibition, collection, research, public education, international exchange, artwork restoration and cultural and creative industry development, the museum now houses over 130,000 works of art of various types and has held more than 5,500 influential art exhibitions of diverse kinds. Many significant works that have gone down in the history of Chinese art were first exhibited here and gained fame from this venue. In the new era, the National Art Museum of China shoulders the cultural responsibilities of "promoting fine traditional culture, collecting and preserving masterpieces of artistic excellence, strengthening domestic and international exchanges, boosting contemporary artistic creation, building up the highlands and peaks of fine arts, and advancing public cultural services". It is committed to making new contributions to the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on the path of Chinese - style modernization.

The stamp takes the main building of the National Art Museum of China as its core visual element. With an elegant layout and a distinct theme, it fully displays the strong ethnic characteristics and the charm of traditional Oriental culture embodied by the museum. This set of stamps was designed by Yu Qiuyan and engraved by Yang Zhiying, and printed by Beijing Stamp Printing Co., Ltd. using the combined offset and intaglio printing technique.
