Background
Taer Lamasery is one of the six major lamaseries of the Gelugpa sect of Chinese Lamaism. It is situated in Huangzhong County, Qinghai Province. Built in 1560, the lamasery has been extended several times to become a large ancient architectural complex with the Big Golden Tile Palace as its center. The lamasery is magnificent and its buildings demonstrate the styles of the Tibetan and Han ethnic groups. The three famous treasures, for which the lamasery is known are traditional flowers made of butter, embossed embroideries and murals. They are vivid and colorful examples of the arts of Tibet and Qinghai Province. The lamasery was repaired during the 1991-1996 period.Price List
