Luo Ronghuan (1902-1963) was born in Hengshan of Hunan Province. He took part in Ernan Insurrection and Autumn Uprising in the border area of Hunan Province and Jiangxi Province. In the Anti-Japanese War he was appointed the director of political department and the political commissar of Division 115. Then he was promoted to commander and the political commissar of the Shandong Military Area and the Secretary of the Shandong Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. After the foundation of the People¡¯s Republic of China, he was appointed the Director of the General political Department of the PLA, the Vice Chairman of People¡¯s Revolutionary Military Committee, the Vice Director of the Standing Committee of the National People¡¯s Congress, the ice Chairman of the National Defense Council, the Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the Member of the Politburo. In 1955 he was conferred the military rank as Marshal of the People¡¯s Republic of China. He passed away in Beijing on December 16, 1963.
